Shaw Playing Field facilities Survey – The results!
Throughout October the Shaw Playing field working party conducted a survey asking for the views of villagers on the type of additional equipment they would like to see added to the existing facilities.
By the end of October we had accumulated 128 valid responses which have all been entered into the Surveymonkey database so that we can analyse the responses.
We asked respondents to rank in order of preference, the following types of equipment:
Multiplay/Themed - Target age group 2 - 6 years
Moving/Rotating/Swinging - Target age group 6 - 11 years
Climbing/Balancing - Target age group 6 - 18 years
Gym/Physical development - Target age group 12 years - Adults/seniors
And the results are!
In order of preference:
2. Gym/Physical development
The working group will now use this information to approach play equipment providers to get quotes for equipment and then apply for match funding from groups such as the local Area Board and Sports England. If sufficient funds are available, then the plan is to install 2-3 pieces of equipment to cater for the 1st-3rd choices.
Decisions regarding specific pieces and location of equipment will be made by the working group with consideration given to ongoing maintenance costs and the safety of those using the field. We hope to have new equipment in place by next spring.
On behalf of all concerned I would like to thank those that participated in the survey and the businesses that helped with the collection of responses; and in particular the volunteers from CAWS and the Shaw Hall Committee.
